This was the second hike I ever did in the Rockies, just days after arriving in Edmonton from out east. The day before on a hike up to Cavell Meadows
I had injured my knee a bit, but it had mostly healed by today and I didn't have much trouble on this gentle hike.
Ten years later as I write this I don't remember much of the trail, other than it starts out quite boring on an old road before the scenery explodes as treeline is reached. Maligne Lake was particularly gorgeous! This was also the first time I was introduced to the tame wildlife of the National Parks as a deer just nonchalantly passed by us near the lake. My only previous experience with wildlife had been in areas with heavy hunting; seeing anything larger than a squirrel was a rarity!
