This is a somewhat popular and short fall larch hike, and with the needles starting to change and an afternoon forecast of rain, we decided it would make the perfect destination for the day.
The directions to the lake can be found in our previous trip report
. The only variation here is that we ascended the ridge to the south of Tryst Lake rather than Tent Ridge. The trail up the south ridge is easy to find and starts from the east end of the lake. It's somewhat steep and will be slippery with frost this time of year, but overall it is very easy. The trail along the ridge is equally easy, although it does come close to cliffs in some places and near the end becomes trickier. Just go as far as you feel comfortable.
