Wasootch Ridge is a popular early season hike a relatively short distance south of the trans Canada highway on highway 40. We've done it before
at about the same time of year and you can get all the directions and information you need from that report.
This time we found the hike to be much easier than before, which is likely a result of having kept active all winter. It's still a moderately difficult hike however, beginning with a steep climb and evolving into many ups and downs. Twisted trees, birds, and varied terrain keep the motivation high though, and the views for most of the hike are very nice as well. Watch for calypso orchids at the very beginning of the hike.
