Maverick Hill is the officially-named source of the poker-themed peaks along the Adanac Road. I’d been examining it from Clubs Peak and had plotted what looked to be a very pleasant route to its summit, and so after the deadfall disaster on Spades Peak I figured I should head for it to conclude my day on a positive note.

After parking in the ditch roughly west of the summit of Maverick Hill, I hiked up through the meadows and lovely open forest to its rocky northwest ridge, then turned and headed for the top. Travel was easy the entire way and within 40 minutes I was standing on its summit.

The view was nice for such a short hike, albeit quite similar to those I’d had earlier today, and I again spent some time taking photos. I also spent some time examining the ridgewalking opportunities in the area. While I’d hiked most of these little peaks as separate trips, with two vehicles or a bike it would be very easy to connect several of them into one long adventure. Deadfall like I encountered on Spades Peak would be the only problem.

To keep things easy I returned to the truck the way I’d come up, thus concluding my relatively easy four-peak day. There’s a lot to explore in this area!
